Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them.
It was during those endless hours of unspeakable terror that Immaculee discovered the power of prayer, eventually shedding her fear of death and forging a profound and lasting relationship with God. She emerged from her bathroom hideout having discovered the meaning of truly unconditional love -- a love so strong she was able seek out and forgive her family’s killers.
The triumphant story of this remarkable young woman’s journey through the darkness of genocide will inspire anyone whose life has been touched by fear, suffering, and loss.« less

I found this book to be uplifting in an odd way. This woman's faith and courage inspired me. I did not know very much about the Rwandan Holocaust and she did a wonderful job of getting you absorbed into her experience. This book was very well written and I would recommend it highly!!
I think I read this book in 3 hours today. I was glued. What a beautiful story about how prayer, trust, and faith was able to help a young woman survive the Rwandan genocide in the early 90s. Also her story and passion for forgiveness is beautiful. I really admire this lady and the prayer life she has. This is one of the best books I've read ever. If you can't handle graphic descriptions of how someone is slaughtered to death, don't read it. It is very depressing but Immaculee's strength to endure through Jesus' guidance in her life is really amazing!!!
Immaculee's story is both heartbreaking and inspirational. the horror that she survived is almost too much to contemplate. Even more remarkable is her ability to forgive those who participated in the genecide. An amazing book!
