After reading this book I still had the same questions I had before. This book seemed to be a lot of nonsense and I couldn't follow it. The hidden meaning (which it must have had) remained hidden to me. I still don't know who Beatrice is.

It reads nothing like his other books in the Unfortunate series, but yet it somehow does.

I loved the Series, but I really didn't like this book.

Having seen the movie, I had to read this. It was quite humorous and worth the time it took to figure out how to read it. Very strange... but that was to be expected.

This is a great book to read if you enjoy the Series of Unfortunate Events. It's funny, interesting, and utterly confusing. It gives you a glimpse into the deep secrets and side stories that the books brush over. Of course, that meant that I actually had more questions after reading this than I did before reading it... but it's worth it.

I read this book without finishing the series (I'm currently only on book 3). I feel like there are probably a lot more things that I could have picked up on, or at least recognized the reference too, had I been done with the series first. I loved the photos that illustrate different chapters. It looks like the author just went through a bunch of people's old photo boxes or used a library's archives and then tried to make the picture fit into the story.
I agree with other reviewers, it seems like this book will only lead to more questions, but it was a fun read! I will re-read it when I'm done with A Series of Unfortunate Events and see if anything more makes sense!

I really enjoyed reading the A Series of Unfortunate Events series very much. In fact, I own all thirteen books and am finding it a bit difficult to give them up. After I finished reading The End, the last book in the series, I was left with, like, a gazillion questions that went unanswered. I heard that it would be a good idea to also read Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography and The Beatrice Letters (which I haven't yet). As soon as I received The Unauthorized Autobiography, I quickly began reading. While it was entertaining and the photographs were pretty cool to look at, I feel it did not bring any new information to the series. It was more like a behind-the-scenes, which was fun. This book is just as mysterious as the A Series of Unfortunate Events books. It did not give me answers to the questions I still have and I probably added a few more to my list. I did loved flipping through the pages and finding those old photographs, The Daily Punctilio articles, telegrams, and much more. I shall be tackling The Beatrice Letters next.

This was not a very satisfying read. I liked it alright, but I expected more answers. It was amusing, however, and much better than the Beatrice Letters, which was just confusing! I would recommend reading this book after having read A Series of Unfortunate Events in its entirety, it just doesn't make any sense otherwise. The photographs with captions were great!

An excellent behind-the-scenes look at Lemony Snicket, famed author of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

This book is a must-have for Lemony Snicket fans. If you are really into the series, and willing to study this book very carefully, forwards and back, then read it now. It doesn't answer any of the questions you really want answered (does Lemony Snicket ever?), but it gives you other fascinating information about VFD and what it is like, Lemony Snicket's past, and the Sebald code.

Both my 10 year old and my 12 year old have read this and enjoyed it. They both say that anyone who has read the Unfortunate Events books will want to read this book.

THis book was alright. I think I was expecting it to be funnier than it was, but it was an entertaining read for waht it was.

A very interesting book and well written book, though not really the type I usually read.

"Who is Lemony Snicket? If there's nothing out there, what was that noise? Aren't ponies adorable?"

Hmm, I think one could enjoy this book without reading Series of U.E., but you'd then probably be strange enough to enjoy S.o.U.E. it's a 7.3 reading level, which is a bit more than SoUE.

I didn't get this book at all. For me, it was a waste of time and money.
