Letters to a Young Poet
Author: Rainer Maria Rilke, M. D. Herter Norton (Translator)
From 1903 to 1908 Rilke wrote a series of remarkable responses to a young would-be poet, on poetry and on surviving as a sensitive observer in a harsh world. Accompanying the letters is a chronicle of Rilke's life showing what he was experiencing in his own relationship to life and work when he wrote these letters.

I return to this little book over and over again -- for anyone who finds themselves pondering the uncertainties of life, this book serves as profound, beautiful, reassuring prose, challenging us to think about things in a more open-minded & sensitive way.

It's a reprint of actual correspondence between Rilke (written late in his life) and a struggling young poet who is a fan. The book can be read in small bits, making it a very poetic diversion in a hectic day. Highly recommend!
