I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of the show then this book is a must. You get to look deeper into the lives of the guys at the show. I never would have guessed that Rick never finished school. And how they even got the pawn shop is amazing. They talk about some items that you have never seen on the show and stories of how they got there, and also of some more interesting clients. Just a wonderful book. You also get a chapter from each of the guys on the show, so each one tells a little bit more about himself.

Told in a light, conversational tone, the book reveals many startling insights into a television star. Rick Harrison's early life is not what you would expect it to be yet he makes no apologies, just recites the facts in an interesting manner. After all, his earlier experiences have made him the man (and the star) he is today. From grand mal seizures in childhood to rehab in his teens to the successful businessman we see on television, he holds nothing back. The light, even affectionate, stories he tells about some of his customers are interesting and fun, but he also explores the darker side of the Las Vegas subculture. The book is very well written and is a fast read. It is perfect for teens who always look for the shortest book they can get away with for school assignments but is a bit graphic in spots for anyone younger than high school age. A must-read for fans of the show and anyone who likes a good autobiography. I just hope Rick follows up with a sequel that includes more stories of the Gold & Silver!

This book is a MUST READ for any fan of the reality show "Pawn Stars" (I'm a big fan, for sure). As I read it, I felt as though I was sitting across from Rick Harrison in my living room, gabbing about the pawn shop, how it came to be, his favorite items and their backstories, his family, and everything I ever wanted to know about how to succeed in business. There are chapters "written" by Old Man, Corey, and Chumlee -- again the feeling comes through that they are sitting there talking to you. I could not put this book down once I started reading it; it flows so well from one chapter to the next that I was shocked when I finished it -- just wanted more!

Fun, funny, enlightening, interesting and a pleasure to read. You really feel that you get to know the characters and you also get to learn a lot about the pawn shop business and the people who frequent their store. We live here in Las Vegas, and Pawn Shop Stars is really part of our history and part of what makes Las Vegas different and exciting.
