Excellent account of one of the best entertainers America has ever seen, who worked in burlesque, vaudeville, movies, radio, and TV over a 9 decade career - acting, dancing, and singing. That said, Rooney was in many ways an awful human being/husband/father, probably because he had an alcoholic father who was jealous of his talents/ability to support the family, and an alcoholic, gambler, promiscuous mother. With his background, and employment at MGM, it's a wonder he lived as long as he did, and accomplished so much. If you like stories of 'old Hollywood', you'll like this book.
