I didn't enjoy Lighthouse Bay as much as the author's other dual narrative stories. The main characters weren't very likable and their woes became tiresome. This plot felt like one of her weaker efforts.

I found the 1901 heroine, Isabella, incredibly self-absorbed much of the time and one-note. And she didn't even seem grateful enough when truly miraculous people appeared at just the right times in her crises.

And Libby in the modern-day storyline wasn't much better until the very end, when it seems a clock chimed and the story realized it was time to reconcile all the mysteries and conflicts. So many issues felt redundant and artificially prolonged, like filler.

So overall, would I recommend it? Not if you haven't already read Wildflower Hill and Evergreen Falls! Read those first. :) Then you can check this one out, followed by Ember Island if you must, which I enjoyed even less than this one.

But it has in no way put me off Kimberley Freeman. I'm still a huge fan eagerly awaiting her next release!
