If you like action packed police drama, you will love this book!

The story begins with Robert Cea training in the NYPD Academy. Here he meets and hears about Police Officer John Conroy who becomes his idol and role model. Once Officer Cea hits the streets as a rookie, his goal is to mimic Conroy and to land as many gun collars as possible. Eventually he wants to be Conroy's partner.
Officer Cea is sent to the 67 precinct, a real s**thole in B'klyn and ends up teamed up with another rookie from his class, Billy Devlin. At first, they work well together as a team, watching each others' backs and making lots of collars. But somewhere along the way, Officer Cea starts to change and not for the good. His partner, Billy, sees this and tries to talk to him but things come to a head and they split up. Not long after, Cea gets his wish and ends up partnering his idol Conroy.

In the meantime, Officer Cea meets and marries Mia, a beautiful woman who works on Madison Avenue and is used to the good life. She buys them a lovely house on Long Island and plans to raise their children there. But Bob, Officer Cea, comes from a very different background. And now the filth, stench and horror of the very streets he patrols no longer leave his mind when he clocks out. He is driven to go back and catch the bad guys; all his longing and attention is focused on the Badlands, the 67. It is in his blood, sweat, the very air he breathes. Mia sees this change and tries to reach him but he is much too far gone. In addition, the IAB investigating him makes his life even more hell and he has come to realize that his idol, Conroy, is not all Cea imagined him to be. He even begins to wonder if Conroy is behind his being investigated by the IAB. He begins to see demons everywhere, some real and others imagined.
The tension and action mount. The death of an informant shakes his already crumblinng world and things spiral out of control.

While reading this, you can actually feel as if you are there. He has no holds barred on telling it like it is. My favorite cop book so far!
