Margaret York's sympathetic novel hightlights the problems of some of the army of lone women whose existence in a social limbo is a fact of modern life. In this novel the heroine "discovers that by leaving her husband, she has entered the subculture of contemporary life poepulated by women who are excluded from 'Partners Clubs', because they are widowed, divorced or unmarried." My personal life fell into this group, but I was lucky enough to find a circle of Gal Pals, with whom I have a very good time!
