It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. From bikers to con artists to drunk drivers and drug dealers, they're all on Mickey Haller's client list. It's a franchise case and he's sure it will be a slam dunk in the courtroom. For once, he may be defending a client who is actually innocent. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME. It is very well written and it holds your interest from page 1 to the end. The plot moves fluidly. The ending packs a huge punch that you don't quite expect but you know the main character, Haller, is working on setting something up throughout. The foreshadowing pulls you through the book. A definite must read !!
This book is not the typical Michael Connelly book, but I enjoyed it even more. I love the other books that he wrote, but this one is just outstanding. I could not put it down and the ending is unbelievable! I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good, well written book.
I discovered Michael Connelly long ago when I read "Blood Work", but never really got into his books.
Recently I picked up a few of his Audio Books and was amazed to find that I love his writing.
This story tells of a Defense Lawyer, his 2 ex-wives and the unfortunate case that would change his life forever. I couldn't wait to hear the next CD or what the next twist in the road would reveal. An excellent book.
Connelly did his usual excellent job here. I almost quit after the first thirty pages because I usually get turned off by books about sleazy lawyers (ever notice how many lawyers become novelists - makes you wonder if we have way too many). Anyhow, I stuck with it and was rewarded with an interesting yarn. Connelly seems to have found a new vein to mine.
This was a terrific story! The first book I've read by Micheal Connelly but it won't be my last. His characters are unique and his storytelling definitely held my attention. Now I can't wait to see the movie!
This was the first Michael Connelly books that I have either read or listened to, and I'll be sure to read another! The statement "the law is rarely about guilt or innocence" holds true in this story....
Very good. This book is by the same author as the Harry Bosch police detective series. It tells the story from the opposite angle, that of the lawyer rather than the police.
The main character, Mickey Haller, is a down and out lawyer who has made a mess of his life. He's a very likeable guy, not half as bad as he would like people to think. Mickey takes a high profile case that he hopes will get him back on top and in the money. Of course nothing and no one is what it seems at first glance. Lots of twists and turns, hard to put it down. It's much less grim than the Bosch series and just as enjoyable.
My all time favorite from Michael Connelly. Fast paced lawyer holds office in Lincoln Town Car - gets the job done, keeps the story moving in a way like no other author has before. Fabulous character, ingenious technique and a storyline that held together and kept the intrigue going so well I could not wait to finish, let alone wait to read the next Mickey Haller book. Grab it now and read tonight!
I've loved all of Connelly's Harry Bosch books and I immediately fell for Mick Haller (the "Lincoln Lawyer" himself), his friend and investigator Raul Levin, and both his ex-wives Maggie and Lorna. A great story, you're never quite sure what Mick's up to or who's trying to fool whom.
