I have it but it was so boring I couldn't get through more than 25 pages. People said it got good around page 200ish but I haven't gotten back to it yet. I will eventually but it will be a while.

I have it, but haven't even turned to page 1 yet. I've been put off by the reviews.

I've been trying to read it since it came out...lmao.  I read a few pages and then go read 3-4 other books. As soon as I finish the ones I have started right now, I'm goning to finish it or else.

Looks like once again I find myself in the minority, but I loved this book.  If you're not sure whether or not it's worth a credit or your hard-earned cash, grab it from the library instead.  As for me, I have my copy in my library, right next to everything else SK has ever written. *g*

I liked it too. And like Sandy, my copy is a keeper. Sandy, I bet we have twin Stephen King book shelves!

I have about 100 pages left of Lisey's Story :) I was lucky enough to get a brand new paperback of it at the used bookstore. I've been reading it fast so I could put it on here, but I love it so much it may stay on my keeper shelf... Some have said they found the beginning boring, which I don't get, I guess if you're more into action/events then characters growth and study it may not appeal to you as much .I love the relationship Lisey had with her husband, and the way the book time travels and even dimensional plane travels (in a way) is wonderful. If you liked King's "Bagt of Bones" (which was my favorite of his) then you'll probably enjoy this as well.

I read the book as well. It was a little slow in the beginning but I found it to be very enjoyable. It has been awhile since I have picked up any of his books (I think Dreamcatchers was my last) so it was nice to get into his twisted mindframe once again.

I posted mine here. I didn't finish it after King committed a cardinal sin of thriller writing by having a character do something so completely stupid and outside of reality that I couldn't stand it. It just wasn't worth reading after that.

Also, I didn't like how it veered off into Rose Madder territory. Rose Madder was good until things got ethereal and trippy.

I kept reading hoping that the story would get interesting... I gave up at page 100.  The story is slow, unrealistic, and sappy.  It never works for me when a male author writes from a woman's point of view.  I can buy that a woman would mourn for 2 yrs for her husband after his death, but not that she's so disoriented, can't keep a thought in her head, and has gone stupid.  Very, very disappointed in Stephen King this time.  This one was a sleeper for me... zzzzzzzzz.....

I have never not read a King book but besides what I read and all the reviews I may not finish this one. I will give it another try, but I can't handle sappy. Makes me ill. I will keep this book (new hardcover) because it's King, I have all of his, but still may not finish it.

Does anyone have any good ghost story books? Or any horror?  I'm not really into vampires. I have credits to spend!!

Christa

I will take any wishlist book in any condition as long as it's readable

I have it and am reading it and I will not say it's one of my favorite books by S. King, I will plow through it -- I want to see how it comes out, honestly -- and will repost it and renew my vow not to read anything else by him.  I've been a fan of his for years (The Shining was one of the scariest books ever written!), but he and I are both getting old and his stuff is just not that interesting to me any more.

I have a copy of Lisey's story. It is hardcover but it has NO dust jacket. If anyone orders a book off my bookshelf I would be more than happy to throw in this book free. It is in perfect condition otherwise. Just PM me. Fist come first serve. I have horror on my shelf. I was totally bored with this book but because it was King I kept trudging along. Took me forever to get it done.

I read it and found it was a hard read initially.  But, 95% of the time I finish my book whether I like it or not.  It actually did get pretty interesting about 3/4 of the book.  If it hadn't of had his name on it, I wouldn't have guessed it was a Stephen King book.  I would recommend getting it at the library or borrowing it from somebody , too.  Unless you are a collector of his books, I don't think it would be worth the money.
