This is for folks looking for suggestions for mysteries more that 30 years old. Hey, Born in the Forties & Fifties, if we don't read them, who will? In their 1989 book A Catalogue of Crime, Jacques Barzun and Wendell Hertig Taylor included their list of 90 classic crime novels. The list is here. Just when I was thinking I was a well-read guy, I find that I've read only eight of them, yish. Nice to see Erle Stanley Gardner, who is often slighted on lists like this. Also, nice to see Andrew Garve, a good English writer who's little known in the US. |

Interesting list Matt. Thanks for posting it. I see a few I've wanted to read but had forgotten about. |

Thanks for the list, Matt! I've read 8 of them also. I have two more sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. Now I got to check some of those other authors out... |
