McCammon is always a wonderful storyteller and I get excited whenever he has a new book out. This one is along the lines of horror and genuine evil more than some of his others and rough going in places. I would not recommend for the faint-hearted but for long time McCammon fans and horror fans it won't disappoint.

What an amazing book! I felt like I was truly back in the 1930's. The book starts off immediately. I admit, I did want to throw the book across the room after the first chapter but I decided to stick with it in hopes for redemption. The characters in this book were superb. From the kindhearted to the deep rooted evil, each character was so defined and so real. The scariest part of the book was knowing that there is true evil like that out there. I loved the "listener" part. There are so many talkers out there but not a lot of true listeners. It was good to see it so defined here. Definitely recommended but it does have a lot of violence so be aware before you read.
