The title of this book is worrisome. There is still slavery in America today: it's euphemistically called "human trafficking" and goes hand-in-hand with the pornography and prostitution industry, in which countless women and children are brutally enslaved, most especially women and children of colour, who are the most vulnerable to slavers/traffickers. Indigenous women and girls are disappearing right and left with no trace left behind even as we speak.

Children should not be lead to believe that slavery is over. It's not, and we need to fight against it.
