This was a good story that continues with the building story arc about Elspeth the Destroyer and we see Duncan of the Chevalier de la Lumiere here in this story as well. It is just as well written as the other stories she has written. While we don't see a lot of forward movement when it comes to Elspeth, other than the bad guys in this story getting their butts kicked again, we do see how the Goddess is building up the forces that will fight for the "light". While we don't get a lot of information on any forward movement on the bad guys front we do get to see the relationship between the two main characters in this story. It would have been nice to have a little more information on how Deena helps teach Josh to harness his magic instead of just glossing over it and fast forwarding beyond that the story seems to work well otherwise. I was a little confused on the Amish community that is supposed to be in the area as the only references to that are when the little girl Grace brings her a calf and then late in the book when she comes back for a visit. There really isn't a whole lot more said about the Amish community so I'm not sure what role Grace and the Amish community might have to play in the future.

On a side note I will admit that the weird size of the book made it a little easier to carry around in my purse with me, but the dimensions threw me off when it arrived (it's only 6 1/2 inches by 4 inches). Not sure if this size is a new thing or what but this is the second book I've gotten lately this size and I can't decide if I like the new size or not.
