my daughter found the book fun to read.
2nd grade reader (or equivalent), story of a boy who can't keep a pet because he lives in an apartment.
Main character is Sammy, who when the book opens feels he is a "nobody." Sammy comes up with a plan to dazzle the kids in his class during a pet contest, but he has no pet. Read about Sammy and his surprise pet, Slowpoke. By the end, between Slowpoke and God, Sammy no longer feels like a nobody.
