I just finished ready Devil in the White City. A great read! Informational as well as exciting. It 's not really a biography as such, but it is about the men involved in the creation of the Chicago World's Fair based on information compiled from personal letters, newpaper articles and biographies. The devil in the title refers to a serial killer living in Chicago at the same time as the fair. (Another mini-biography within the book.)

I would highly recommended "A Rip in Heaven". It's a memoir of murder on the Mississippi River and more importantly its aftermath. It really is an unforgettable story. Check out my bookshelf, I think its still available. |

We just read A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius in my book club and I posted it. It was strange, but very good. Short listed for the Pulitzer. I also love anything by Rick Bragg, like All Over But the Shoutin' is my all-time favorite. |
