I read a series, I think it was a triology, of sorts. The men of the family (brothers) have unusual gifts: one can become a spirit and travel, one was wounded and one married his neighbor who he watched grow up. The family owed some kind of heirloom that contained a red stone that created problems and another character named Rafe stole it, and it made him miserable. I remember that Rafe had his own story, entwined I believe with another story of the family. Rafe was a sailor, and married some poor woman with a son. I remember that story the most because it was the last.

Sorry if I confused everyone, but I'm hoping someone knows what I'm talking about. Thanks :)

This sounds like a series I noticed on Ellorascave.com.  I can't remember the name. But I remember one could "spirit walk".  Probably not the same series and I cannot remember the author on the ellorascave site.

Hmmm...  That's got me thinking of Susan Carroll's St. Leger trilogy:  The Bride Finder, The Night Drifter, and Midnight Bride.  The guys have different powers, and there's a family sword called The Bride Finder that gets stolen at one point or something like that....  It's been a while, but I read the first two and it's worth checking out.

Ah-Ha!  You posted again while I was researching titles!  Now it seems even more like Carroll's books -- they've got a ghost in the tower too!
