My daughter is looking for some new books to read. She has already read up to number 7 in the True Color Series by Melody Carlson, number 1 in The Diary of a Teenage Girl Chloe and all of the Caitlin ones, and the first 3 volumes of Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn. If you know of any books that you think she would enjoy please let me know. Thanks |

Has she read any of the Janette Oke books? My grandfather was a minister, and he gave me the Seasons of the Heart series when I was 12 or 13, and some of the Canadian West series over the next few years. What's funny is that I would have refused to read them had I known they were Christian books (I was a bit on the rebellious side) ! But I loved them so much I have recently sought them all out again to keep in my permanent collection. Re-reading them now I wonder how I could have read right past the religious messages---they weren't overly forceful, yet they weren't exactly subtle. My grandfather passed away a few years later, but I will always be grateful to him for finding such a lovely way of adding a little God to my life. Robin Jones Gunn has another series called the Sierra Jenson series that is also very good. I read that and enjoyed it very much! |

I highly recommend Janette Oke. As the above poster said, Seasons of the Heart are good and about a boy through his years as a kid into adulthood. The Tender Years (a continuation of the Love Comes Softly series) is about a young girl through to her adulthood as well. All of Oke's books are wonderful and I've been reading them since my grandmother introduced me to them when I was 11-ish. Other good Christian authors are Lori Wick, Beverly Lewis, Dee Henderson, Catharine Palmer, T. Davis Bunn (teams with Janette Oke on a couple series...Song of Acadia is sooo good), and Gilbert Morris. |

you might try Kristen Billerbeck.......the books have heroines that are a little older (late 020s). They are read that emphasises Christianity and friendships and have nothing in them that is objective. I particularly love the Ashley Stockindale series. The Spa Girls series is alright. |

Women of Faith has a great series out as well. I can't recall the author but the books have girls names in the title. "Storm rising" is one. Margaret Peterson Haddix is not a Christian author but I've found that her books are completely appropriate for young adults. Shadow Children Series, Running out of Time, House on the Gulf. |

a great christian fiction book that i read a while back was "Tahn" by L.A. Kelly. i just got the second book, "Return to Alastair" but havnt read it yet. and i think there is one more too. |

Yes, I read Tahn too. It was good. Book three is 'The Scarlet Trefoil'. If she likes fantasy, I'd highly recommend Karen Hancock's Legend of the Guardian-King. The first book is Light of Eidon. Also the Dragon Keeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, starting with Dragonspell, are very good. -Rebekah |

Oh, also I just read the Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker, it was amazing! I don't know how old you daughter is, but my 15-yr-old brother and I both loved it. It's sort of a thriller/fantasy mix. |

Second on the Janette Oke. As a teenager, even a pre-teen, I LOVED them. I still reread them occasionally. |
Well, They're not christian books but I bet she would like them! Patrick Carmen's The Land of Elyon Really great series.
Ted Dekker is fantastic! He has a teenage series out there related to the Circle Trilogy...The Lost Books...but those AND his 'adult' books are great for teenagers! |
The Left Behind books are awesome! Even the adult books are great for young adults. The kids series is 1-40 and is about 4 teens getting through the tribulation after the rapture. Another great set of books is by Mary Christner Borntrager. They're about Mennonite kids. Such titles as Rachel, Ellie, Rebecca, Daniel, Reuben. Great books. Alot like some of the Janette Oke books. Her Love Comes Softly series is great for a young girl! Another thing you could try if she likes romance stories is the LoveSwept and Heartsong Romances. They're all clean, christian romances where the heroine and hero seek God's guidance in their relationship. Last Edited on: 2/21/09 10:22 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Janette Oke is a wonderful author. I have a lot of her books on my bookshelf, but they are quick reads. Another series I loved, though I can't remember the series name, the first book was called the Restorer and the last book The Restorer's Son. Wonderful christian books with a lot of fantasy and action thrown in. |
