...by L. Frank Baum. There are several copies in ths system, but I've looked up the ISBNs at Amazon and I don't think they're the version I remember reading as a child.

The version I read was a large white paperback. The typeface was old-fashioned, and the black-and-white illustrations looked like 1920s Art Deco. The entire Oz series was released in this format, because they had them all at my childhood library (this would have been in the late 1970s.) The capital letters at the beginning of each chapter were done illumination-style, with little pictures of the characters in and around them.

I've seen that there is a re-release version of the book with the original illustrations...but I'm 95% positive that's not the copy I read. These illustrations were later than the originals, and they were just gorgeous.

If you think you may have this copy, please PM me! I want this book so badly, but I want the version I read!
