Although the premise of the book sounds cliche', Bauermeister's writing is smooth and her characters original. Story reminds us that everyone has a backstory and sometimes our family and support comes in the least likely places. With that said as a mom to a pile of boys, I would love to mother Finnegan, what a wonderful character.

I throughly enjoyed the first and now can say the same about the second book.
Wonderful interesting and real people make these stories relatable and very enjoyable to read.
You find yourself drifting along the lives of the characters and wishing you lived in the same neighborhood as they do.
Insightful relationships and make you think moments.

Didn't think this was quite as good as the first/original (School of Essential Ingredients), but still a good story. Interesting character interactions.
