...but I was sorely disappointed. The book bounces back and forth, sometimes rather disconcertingly, between modern day and about 200 years ago. Although some of the scenery described is beautiful and fans of New England autumns will enjoy that aspect, there isn't a lot else to recommend this rather cumbersome tale. The modern day thriller-type situations are highly improbable to the point of being ridiculous. The characters are neither engaging nor particularly likable. There is a romance brewing throughout that apparently we (the readers) are supposed to be rooting for, but I couldn't seem to find even a bit of interest in whether or not these two ever got together. I couldn't even figure out why they WOULD get together....I didn't like them much, and I couldn't see what they saw in each other.

As far as suspense goes, there really is none. Seriously. If you can get through the first two chapters, sit down and jot down on a bit of paper what you think happened to the constitution and how it all ends. Go ahead. Bet you're right! It's that predictable. This book honestly feels like the work of an author who sat down and said "Today I shall write a book that will be a major motion picture!" and then proceeded to cram as many car chases, helicopter stunts, explosions, etc. into it as possible, while still trying to be "historical", and then for some odd reason (maybe he lost a bet?) had to weave in a love story that just didn't really fit.

If you have nothing better to do on a rainy day, this book will fill a few hours of your time. If you are looking for a truly engaging page-turner that will give you something to talk about with your friends for the next few weeks, this is probably not the book for you.

Fun caper-like adventure story -- much like the National Treasure film series!

I enjoyed reading this book. The book takes you from how the first draft of the Constitution got lost and how the person who lost it tried to get it back. Then what was going on today in the modern times to find the first draft of the Constitution. The 2nd amendment is what's creating the big push to find this first draft.

A great read about an annotated copy of the first draft of the U.S. Constitution. Besides the search for it in the present day, it describes the men and their families who were involved at the time of the original framing of it.
