Very funny. But also enlightening about contemporary Chinese culture from a Western perspective. Warning: Potentially offensive language. I've toured China and find Troost's insights to be right on target for the most part.

Even though we've been to China 20 times so far, this book still held surprises and more information about our "home away from home" than we expected. The author is knowledgeable, funny and interesting. This is a great book to get lost in and enjoy. If you haven't been to China yet, it will make you want to go. If you have been there before, it will make you yearn to return for another visit. Either way, the book is less expensive than the trip. Enjoy!

I read it all the way through, so I must have enjoyed it, it was something of a "bro" travel book, even though he wasn't with someone most of the time.
