You can not deny that this a great and profound piece of literature. From the cover you might think it is a book for women, or about empowering women. Do not be deceived. This books is about a long line of men by the last name of Fontana who are cursed. Not cursed in the paranormal novel way, but more like the sins of the father etc. The book explores the possible causes of the curse, dna, sinful nature etc. While the book can ask some very mystical profound questions, and I am not sure it really answers those questions, it can also be full of quirky weird characters with unforgetable names like Dencil, and Moon Pie, Hotson, the women tend to have normal names. This story is weird, and a long drawn out history of the Fontana men. Because the men have such weird names the story is easy to follow.

The author is very smart, has many views on life, the meaning of life, and each view is presented as different characters talk. Because I am not so deep and profound, I was not sure which view point was being touted as truth. In a way it was like reading the story of JOB, and all is his friends show up and spout a view point. The reader of JOB and the book could get confused as to the validity of the statements by each key player. It the statement true cause it was said/written or it is false. Again no answers by the end of the book.
I cant say skip this book, But if you want to do some deep thinking about life and choice, and fate read it and decide yourself which statements are true.
