Love Always, Petra is a compelling read. The first part of the book relates the life of Czechoslovakian-born supermodel Petra Nemcova. Petra describes what it was like to grow up in a Communist country, and how her parents encouraged her to escape the limitations of her life by becoming a supermodel. Through common sense, some guidance, and some luck, Petra was able to avoid many of the pitfalls young models succomb to when they are suddendly plunged into the spotlight and instant celebrity of modeling. The last half of the book tells about Petra falling in love with a British photographer named Simon Atlee. The pair had been together about a year and a half, they booked a vacation to Costa Rica. Petra and Simon had the unfortunate luck of being in Costa Rica when the tsunami hit on December 26, 2004. Petra survived by hanging onto a palm tree until rescuers could get to her eight hours later, but Simon was among the 225,000 killed that day. Petra's story of her physical and emotional healing after the tsunami is one of courage, determination, and grace that are inspiring for anyone to read.
