This is a great mystery that you wont want to miss. I have held on to this one putting off reading it for a long time. I wish I hadnt. I was hooked by page 2. and Still on the hook by page 30.

This is the first time I had read this author. The author reminds me of two other authors, The one who writes the Jane Austin series, and the one who writes the Pychic eye series. In fact the main characters name is Jane Austen Smith, and she changes her name to Stella the stargazer, for her new job at a newpaper. The character also has "Spells" where she sees the future. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

First âStella the Stargazerâ mystery, in which accountant Jane Smith, tired of her boring life, drops her cheating boyfriend, changes her name, finds a new apartment and gets a job as an astrologer and advice to the lovelorn columnist in a second-rate Denver newspaper. âStellaâ sometimes has âvisions' or glimpses of people's futures and though she's discounted them in the past, her best friend convinces her to use them. Unfortunately, she gets a horrible vision of a dead woman from the first letter she receives and isn't sure what to make of it. Interesting book with a gutsy, likable main characterâlove her pet, a chameleon named Fluffy. Middle of the book was a little repetitive and boggy, but the ending made up for itânot the killer's identity, which I figured out early on, but the very end.

Now how many advice to the lovelorn throuogh astrology heroines do you know who can take the reader on a fun ride while solving a good mystery, complete with an expressive chameleon named Fluffy who rides on her shoulder. As one reviewer said, "Jorgensen endows her heroine with a combination of savvy and foolishness that make her just right for this promising new series."

Ms. Jorgensen's Stella the Stargazer's first mystery is much fun to read. Jane Smsith quits her boring job, ditches her faithless boyfriend, and employs her more unique talents to become "Stella the Stargazer" at the local newspaper where she offers horoscope advice for the lovelorn in Denver. Having one obsessive habit, that of buying sexy lingerie, the ink is barely dry on her first column when seh stumbles upon the dead body of the owner of her favorite special lingerie shop. Add apolice detective she almost liked until he accuses her of murder, toss in her own uncanny sixth sense that kicks in at odd times, and the future is a bit unpredictable, especially with a killer gazing at Stella. Stella's quirky humor and human frailities will endear her to many readers.
