I almost did not finish this book, it started a little slow for me but then it picked up and I could not put it down. I laughed out loud at times and love books that make me laugh while reading them if it is believable (it does not work if I don't believe it could happen). I ended with such a good feeling. Very happy I kept reading it.

The character build-up was pretty good in this book, but the plot was a bit drab. Annie feels like her "clock is ticking" so to speak, though she is only 26 years old. The problem is all her friends are married and her little brother is married too and is praised by her parents. She wants to set up her life kinda like an old classic film romance. Her priorities are set far too high and her friend Evan seems to be someone who is there but not "The One" for her.

Annie looks for a new job for a Deacon whom she calls "Deke" and comes in contact with a man named Nick who is a friend of Deke's. He pretty much just bothers her if anything. Her friend's handsome friend on the other hand seems to have interest in her and great potential for a possible boyfriend. This whole book is basically about how we need to throw out that list of what is a good thing in life and see that not everything is perfect.

This is a Christian fiction book but God is pretty much in the background and not the foreground. He is mentioned here and there and we never see a character fully dependent on Him.

It wasn't a bad book, I just couldn't get sucked in (regardless of the fact that I read it in a couple days. . .which was pretty much to get it over with).

I really enjoyed this sweet story of a wacky, a little mixed up young woman trying to make a new life for herself after being laid off at her job. She has a wonderful support group of friends and family, including her wonderful grandmother. I also liked how her funny dog was prominent in the story. A new job and a new boss is just what she needs. It doesn't hurt that her new employer could be the man of her dreams. I highly recommend this book.
