A warning to those who have not read Bertrice Small before: the love scenes are very explicit, and there are lots of them. If this offends you at all, you probably shouldn't read this book. If you like a LOT of spice in your romance, you will enjoy this tale of a young Irish girl who is sold into slavery after an unhappy and brutal childhood. She is trained to be a "Love Slave" for a powerful Moorish caliph. She and her "Passion Master" spend an intense year studing the sensual arts and fall in love. Nevertheless, the master delivers her to the caliph and they both go on to lead adventurous lives, yearning to find a way to be together again. As always, Small's historical research is good and she skillfully weaves it into the story.
There isn't a Bertrice Small book that isn't wonderful. I've been reading her books for over 20 years and I'm probably one of her biggest fans. She's by far the best romance writer out there! Great book!
Another fantastic book that will keep you reading with many twists and turns. They just don't write like this anymore. Bertrice Small's book are books you will want to devour. This isn't mindless writing that quickly bores you like a lot of romances today. Her books have climatic love scenes, the best ladies erotica and such description and historical facts to feed your brain. You will be laughing and crying and won't want to put them down.
As a 32 yr old woman some scenes in this book even made me blush however I could not take my eyes from the blasted thing. Page after page of mind blowing story. Words cannot express the twists and turns in this book. Chapter after chapter of capture, escape, capture near escape. MATURE SEXUAL EXPLICIT SCENES but for adults it doesn't get any better than this. I have purchased the Hardback to give to my daughter as a wedding gift in a few years. LOVE LOVE LOVE
In the hands of Karim al Malina, master of the erotic arts, kidnapped Celtic beauty Regan was to be schooled in carnal pleasure--and made a fit consort for a king. But pupil and teacher broke the cardinal rule of their relationship--and fell in love.
This is the first Bertice Small book that I ever read. Her writing is so different than the usual romance. (She seems to know that most of us have been with more than one man-and enjoyed it.)
I just finished reading this book for the second time and now I am posting it so that someone else can enjoyit
It is no act of love that Regan experiences that night she takes her sister's place in the marriage bed.
She surrendered for nothing except her destiny.

I have read everything she has written and make sure I get them in hard back. I love the way she writes and is able to draw you into the period she is using. Her Historical facts are increditably accurate and her discriptions let you visualize everything beautifully. I have yet to read a book by her that I didn't have a hard time putting down.
Regan McDuff got a raw deal in life... she was born a twin, the youngest behind her sister and immediately hated by her mother. As soon as she's born it is set in stone that Regan McDuff will be sent off to a convent as soon as her sister marries. When she gets to the convent she's sold off to a slave trader. When the slave trader lays eyes on Regan he knows that he will have her trained as a love slave for his friend the Caliph of Cordoba. Regan is sent to train with the erotic arts master Karim, who has never had any intention to love or be loved. Soon they fall desperately in love, but both know they have to do what's right because Regan belongs to the Caliph... not him.
Classic Bertrice Small... loved it. Very detailed on everything, she really pulls you into this story. There's passion, suspense and action all rolled into one. It's definitely a page turner if you love Bertrice Small's books.

You cannot go wrong reading Bertrice Small. She's the #1 romance writer in my opinion. I've been reading her for over 20 years and adore every book she's written.
Her early works, such as this one are the BEST!
A fiery Celtic beauty, Regan is abducted to exotic lands and delivered to Karim al Malina, master of the erotic arts, who will mold her into a Love Slave fit for a Moorish king. Under Karim's tutelage: Regan, now called Zaynab, "the beautiful one"-is swept into uncharted reaches of ecstasy. But the pair break the first rule of teacher and pupil when they fall in love. Now, as Zaynab fulfills her destiny as the adored prize of the Caliph of Cordoba, she vows that somehow, she will be reunited with Karim, her only love...
Great book...I couldn't put it down.
I really enjoyed this book. Not only is it a hot love story, but the details of harem life and the opulence of the sultans riches and power are fascinating. A REALLY GOOD READ.
