The movie has gotten terrible reviews (of the ones I've read).  I've had this book on my tbr pile for ages, but was considering watching the movie to spur me on to read the book.  Is it worth watching or should I just read the book?

Well, the book wasn't all that great...I thought.  The tagline for it should be "one of the greatest pathetic-obsessive-unrequited love stories you'll have to force yourself to finish".  Tomorrow, HBO's "First Look" series will showcase this film, for anyone interested.

I love this book, personally.  I think it helps to have read something by garcia-marquez before.  If a book is terrific, but I hate the ending, that ruins it for me.  This book has a great ending.  I wouldn't watch the movie for anything more than a brief outline of the plot.

I just finished it for Book Club. It was good, but not great.
