Lucy Beresford is a British writer, psychotherapist and media commentator.

An alumnus of Trevelyan College, University of Durham, she has an M.A. in Psychotherapy awarded by The City University, London, and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, having studied for both at Regent's College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology, London. She is registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). She currently practises at the Priory Hospital, Roehampton and privately in London.

Her first novel, Something I'm Not, which explores the question of whether every woman is a potential mother, was published by Duckworth in February 2008. Her short story "Endurance" was published in The London Magazine in 2008. Lucy also reviews contemporary fiction for a variety of British publications including The Spectator and the Sunday Telegraph.

She is a frequent commentator on the broadcast media, generally providing psychological insights into some topical question. Her appearances include the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 and the Today programme on BBC Radio 4. In printed media she is the agony aunt for Psychologies magazine, and has written for the Mail on Sunday , Sunday Telegraph and The Spectator .

She is on the board of Developing Artists, an organisation that supports and extends the skills of artists in developing countries.

She was born in 1964 and lives in London. Her initial career was in finance, with Lehman Brothers and BZW. She appears in a number of audio dramas based on the Dr Who and Sapphire and Steel franchises.
