It is not scary, but a cozy mystery, it is a little bit "raunchier" than other cozies, as there is a bit of  naughty language used, definitly PG-13, but it is laugh out loud funny too! Think Stephanie Plum series as far as it being PG-13!

Here is a review from the one I am reading:

In this second installment in Maddy Hunter's enjoyable Passport to Peril mystery series, Emily Andrews escorts a group of senior citizens from Iowa on a trip to Ireland. The trip starts out in typical madcap fashion as Emily lands in the water when her horse and buggy driver falls asleep after drinking too much. Emily's trip starts to get better when Etienne Micelli, whom she met in Switzerland, arrives to spend some quality time with her. If only she can keep him away from her ex-husband Jack, who is now a gorgeous woman named Jackie! Throw in a couple of dead bodies, a haunted hotel, food fights, and a bad case of hives and Emily is off on another hilarious adventure!

I enjoyed this extremely funny mystery even more than I did the first one, Alpine for You. I especially like Emily's "Nana" who loves to take pictures of everything, no matter the situation. Hunter writes her speech in such a way that I can almost hear her accent as I read it. There are many funny scenes in the book to keep the reader laughing, including Emily's many attempts to be alone with Etienne and her "pajama party" with Jackie. The book is worth reading just for the dinner scene where everyone finds out who Jackie really is.

Hunter doesn't let the humor get in the way of the mystery, however, and there are a few unexpected twists along the way to the solution.

Highly recommended!

I just ordered Alpine For You.  It's great to get recommendations here.  I'm always looking for new series to read and it helps to hear what others think about them.

Just finished Alpine for You, and it was hilarious! Think a cross between Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum and Denise Swanson's Skye Denison: single, small town girl with free-speaking grandmother finds bodies at every turn--even in foreign countries. Yes, raunchy language (and commentary) pops up here and there....

Oh I'm waiting for Top o' the Mournin right now. I read Alpine for You and I thought it was fantastic! I didn't know who the killer was until the very end. Plus, it was funnier than I was expecting. The person that recommended it on here gets a giant thumbs up from me. :)

I have four of these books in my TBR pile, I'll have to get at them and re-post them for everyone.  I haven't read any of this series and I'm looking forward to it.

Well thanks to a certain somebody, my wait for Top o' the Mournin became really short! It's currently en route and I can't wait! I'm almost as excited for this as I was for the last Harry Potter! :)

ACK! I am sooo mad, my order for B&N.com did not go through for G'Day to die, I did not have enough money left after shipping so I just bought some other mystery called A Really Cute Corpse Claire Malloy Mysteries by Joan Hess, I hope it is good, I was itching to use up my gift certificate credits and it was cheap :) Then of course I look and it is available here at PBS. Oh well, anyone ever read Joan Hess??

I love Maddy Hunter.  I have all her books and have read them all too.  She also seems really nice.  I have emailed her a couple of times and thanked her for her books when times get tough, i read them.  Had a hard month this June and part of July and she just makes me laugh out loud.  Even my daughter likes them and she is picky on her reading.  I hope you get them all and love them just as much as I do.  Can't wait for her new one Noway to die(?) I think it is getting released in Oct or Nov.

I have read all the books in this series except the new one Norway, in the title [senior moment] and love them.  I really wouldn't clasify them as raunchy as what 13 year old would want to read this series.  For the adults it's fine.  No worse than what you hear on TV or in the streets.

Well, I've now finished reading her first three books in the Passport to Peril series and I've loved them all. I officially love Maddy Hunter books! As a side note, I also love Lorrie B and she knows why! :)
