Most of the stories are quite good. A little dark magic mixed with humor and horror.

Fifteen short stories by masters of fantasy and science fiction exploring the possibilities of a *real* magic shop. Susan Sizemore, P.M. Elrod, Laura Resnick, Rosemary Edghill and others. Edited by Denise Little. Anthologies of stories based on a theme are very popular in the fantasy and science fiction world. Quality is erratic at best, though most contain at least one gem. None of these stories are outstanding, but all are good and most are fun. This is one of the better collections I have read.

The only reason I got this book was for the Bast story (A Winter's Tale) by Rosemary Edghill. For those of you who know what I'm talking about, this short story takes place after the Bast novels. It still leaves you wanting more, but it was still a good read. As for the other stories, they were ok. A couple would make great novels, but for the most part if I had to choose between taking and leaving I would leave 'em. I rated this book so highly simply for the fact that it contains a Bast story.
