I am new to this site. I have enjoyed it very much. I posted a book i wanted to trade. someone wanted it. Well, I sent what I "thought" was the correct book. When I looked through my books last night, I noticed that I had NOT sent the correct book! I'm not sure what book I sent the person, but it was not the one she requested. I PM'd her this morning and apologized, and told her I would send the correct book first thing in the morning. I'm not sure how I managed to do this, but leave it to me! I hope I did the right thing. That was all i could do under the circumstances. Has anyone else ever done this? :)

I haven't done it myself but I've received the wrong book twice now.  Both times they had sent my book to other people. The sender gave us all a credit to cover the postage to mail the books off to the right people.

The book will most likely go lost.  I know I wouldn't mark it received until I got the book I actually ordered. Also she doesn't have to send you the wrong book back unless you give her a credit to cover the postage.

Yeah, I would do what you have done - send her the correct book - and then, ask her to send you a message when she receives the wrong book.  At that point, you can ask her to send it back, and buddy her a credit to cover the cost of shipping back to you.  Or you can just let her keep the book if you don't want to give up a credit!  That's probably what I would do.  Also remember to remove that book from your bookshelf, as the PBS system thinks you still have it.

Been there, done that. I mixed-up 2 orders; I pm'd both when I realized it (books were on their way), gave add'l credit to send back. In the end, one person got their req. book and a freebie (I felt really awful about my mix-up).  The other book, who knows where it went, so I sent her a WL'd book and a freebie (luckily, I had one of her WL'd books).  I was fairly new when this happened, and both members were great about my mess; it was a good lesson and now I double-check before I send orders.  It worked out OK, but what a pain......

I told her that she could keep the book I mistakenly sent her. that is the least I could do.

Been there, done that...sent the wrong book in a series...I sent the correct one and told her to keep the other one.  I sent the last in the series and she requested the one before it, so I hoped it worked out for her. :)  I think you did the right thing...it happens to the best of us. :)

Sounds like you did the right thing instinctively, and it doesn't seem like you've let it discourage you, so I think you are going to do well here. Nothing like a little "oops" to make you be more cautious in the future. Look at it this way, at least there was only one person involved! I had someone print my wrapper twice and send me a book meant for someone else in addition to the one I ordered. We worked it out just fine, but it gets tricker the more people that are involved.

I also agree you handled it well.  I think it is an easy mistake to make.
When I've had 2 books going out to 2 different addresses that I am wrapping the same day I get pretty anal about it.  I completely package and label the first one before I even print the label for the second, to minimize getting them mixed up.

Ruby, welcome to PBS and join the crowd, I've done the same thing before!  Member requested 1st book in paranormal romance series, I sent her 1st book in a completely different series, no clue why:)   I handled it the same as you are doing, sent her the correct book and told her to keep incorrect one as an apology gesture.  At least your boo-boo was easy enough to fix and didn't involve more than one member!

well, whatever book I sent her by mistake, I hope she enjoys it! Or she can post it on here and get a credit if it is requested. I sent her the correct one this morning. I will have to go thru my inventory to see just what it was that i sent her!
