I picked this book up in a train station in Germany in 2004, and gave it away to a backpacker I me in Berlin when I was done reading it. I truly regret doing that. This book has stayed with me in ways I hardly expected it to. It's beautiful, tragic, and lovely. It still manages to move me, three years after I last saw it. Everyone should read this book.
