Unlike "The Quiet American" this novel is a comedy of errors. This is what happens when you make something up and the wrong people take it seriously.

I read this book for my historical fiction book club.It was a good story.Very fast read.
It was also funny. Its about Wormold who is a salesman of vacuum cleaners who lives with his daughter Milly who meets Hawthorne who turns him into a spy.Once he becomes a spy things just spiral out of control. It was also a love story.I would recommend this book for anyone who wants a good laugh.I found I couldnt put the book down I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next.
