A good book on managing software development by someone who's doing it now. Recommended for those entering management, those wanting to know where their manager is coming from, and even for experienced managers who aren't having the success they need in their teams.

Another book to consider in the genre is Peopleware by DeMarco & Lister. It covers different ground than Managing Humans, but it is also very relevant to software managers.
