If this is a cozy mystery then, "Pride and Prejudice" is a Western. I read the "Murder She Wrote" books for relaxation after reading heavier books. This one doesn't even qualify as a mystery, but is a thriller. And not only is the premise unbelievable, but there are plot holes throughout which the author wants you to just accept as being likely to happen.
And suddenly, with this book, all of Jessica's friends are snarky. Plus, in most of the previous books the body count usually didn't go over three deaths, and even that many were rare. In this book, I began to lose count of the deaths across the country, and at the end the body count soared.
I miss Donald Bain's hand in this series. But he died in 2017. I'll read the next of this book's author----John Land---as I get them free from the Library. If more of his tripe continues, than I'll skip the other four he wrote and see how the next author---Terrie Moran---handles the "Murder She Wrote" series.
