I just finished Take A Chance On Me by Jill Mansell.  I loved it, really solid fun characters.

Continuing on the "Take" theme :-), I'm reading "Take Another Little Piece of My Heart" by Pamela des Barres. It's kind of eh. I recently read the first book in the "Kingdom Keepers" series by Ridley Pearson. I am so hooked and hope I move through the WL lines soon. It's fantastic, like a Disney-themed Harry Potter. Seriously. I can't believe it didn't get more hooplah, actually, since those books were so hot. I couldn't put it down. As for groupie Pamela, kind of ick. After that will be "Amen, Amen, Amen" by Abby Sher.

Hey ladies, speaking of Jill Mansell -- I have read (and enjoyed) some of her books. Until you mentioned these, I had no idea they were even available (that she had written them). I've been putting some on my RL to bump into my WL when there's room. Would you say they're the typical "sappy, happy ending" every single time type of book? I've kind of grown tired of that. Basically, girl meets/likes guy, doesn't think she can get him, OF COURSE she gets him, and on the way gets drunk/high/sleeps around, has completely outrageous friends, and gets her perfect ending every single time. A lot of books are like that, and I got turned off. But if JM's books are a bit of a departure from that, I'd add more of her to my WL. Pipe in if you can!

Heather, there definitely happy sappy endings.  The reason why I like her books are the characters.  She puts a lot of attention into her characters and they make for good entertainment.

I just picked up The Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffen today, so I will start it momentarily....I just finishe Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. It was so bizarre at times, but it was also sooo good! I ended up REALLY liking it, and ordered another by this author because I enjoyed it so much.

I just started "Undress me in the temple of heaven" by Susan Jane Gillman and am really liking it already. Before this, I read "Behind the Bell," the "expose" of "Saved by the Bell" by Dustin Diamond (Screech!). Couldn't put it down - it was HILARIOUS and super interesting for people of that age period!

And this is the reason I pretty much stopped reading chick lit. I'll read it once or twice a year for the humor, but I got sick of the same plot time and time again.

I am currently reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. It is great so far but I am waiting for the normal Sparks twist so see how much I end up liking it.

Edit: Finished and this book is a keeper!
