Out of all the novel writing 'how to's out there, this one is the best by far. It takes you step by step, from beginning to end, on how to lay our your characters, your plot, your story, etc...
Now, instead of writing off the top of my head or from a scant outline, banging my head in frustration on how to tie the pieces together, hoping the characters are interesting enough to keep readers awake, I use this book to add the full background and layers to my stories--before I write page one--that I only wished I could create before.
If you're lacking a really good beta or two or three, do yourself a favor and get to know this book inside and out. Your work will thank you.
