This story was less interesting than the first in this series. One example was the extended discussion of who knew how to waltz. Really? Who cares? The story's first half was slow going but picked up toward the end. On the other hand, Elvis the bloodhound is still the star of this series. He's able to find missing children, seniors, and cell phones.

Sam Gentry, Honey Howell's love interest and town detective has been placed on the back burner while British citizen Theo Parker buys Pickett's Distillery. Theo's grandfather and Woodrow Howell were friends and fellow distillery owners. Woodrow knew Theo wanted to buy a Kentucky distillery; Woodrow notified Theo when Bunny Spencer wanted to sell Pickett's (from the first story in this series).

Discussing the murder at the masquerade ball provides some levity. A half-dozen Paul Reveres, a Wyatt Earp, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln, and other costumed people participated. When discussing the conflicts during the ball, witnesses mentioned that a saloon girl was arguing with George Washington. Napolean and Paul Revere exchanged barbs, all while the crowd danced.
