This book published in 1977 covers Eight-Ball, Nine Ball, Straight Pool and One Pocket. There are plenty of shot diagrams with straight text. What this book is lacking is better layout, bullet points and organization that newer books have in more abundance due to the easy availability of modern word processors. If you are willing to plow through the text, there are good pointers and anecdotes.
