Max Lale's memoirs of growing up in rural and small town Oklahoma will be entertaining to older readers and educational to younger ones. He tells tales of the 20's and 30's and attending Oklahoma University, his ambient army life, the camaraderie of his fellow army officers in the years from 1941 to 1945. The author carries the reader to preparation for battle in American camps and on to France and Germany for confrontation with the Axis Forces which resulted in total victory for the Allies. These are true tales of bygone days. Mr. Lale is absolutely is as fasicinating and humble even in person, for I met him in person as a fellow author. We actually shared booksigning tables at the celebration of the 100th Birthday of the Fort Worth Public Library.
