I honestly didn't know much about Selma. I liked her as an actress and enjoyed the movies that she was in (Hellboy is one of my favorites!). I didn't really become interested in her story until I saw her on tv being outspoken about her MS diagnosis. I saw interviews with her and how upbeat she was and wanted to learn more. What I read was a lot of the same. We read about from the time that she entered the world as a mean baby all the way up until the time she wrote the book. She has had many struggles such as a difficult mom, multiple rapes, pain she couldn't explain, and an alcohol problem. Yet, she persevered. Of course, she breaks down at times. We all do but what I found to be truly noble of her was that she didn't blame anyone for her faults. There was no finger-pointing like you see in today's world. She took responsibility for herself. It made me admire her more. I truly wish her the best.
