Pointless noodling around unbelievable, unlikeable characters, with no plot to speak of. I tried: I really, really tried, but about half-way through decided that life is too short ...

I REALLY wanted to like this. Having seen this mentioned in an article listing "forgotten gems and little known cult classics," I actually bought a copy, because it wasn't available from my local library. (Do I sound bitter? I'm sorry ...) Set in New York City, in the late 60s, early 70s, and described as a black comedy, I thought "What's not to love?" Well, let me count the ways ...
