The Presiding Officer. The Chair lays before the Senate resolutions from the House of Representatives, which will be read. The Secretary read the resolutions, as follows: In The House Of Representatives, January 16, 1896. Resolved, That the House has heard with profound sorrow of the death of Hon. William Cogswell, late a Representative from the State of Massachusetts. Resolved, That as a mark of respect to his memory the House do now adjourn. Resolved, That the Clerk communicate these resolutions to the Senate. Mr. Hoar. Mr. President, I ask for the immediate consideration of the resolutions which I send to the desk. The Presiding Officer. The resolutions submitted by the Senator from Massachusetts will be read. The Secretary read the resolutions, as follows: Resolved, That the Senate has heard with profound sorrow the communication of the death of Hon. William Cogswell, late a Representative from the State of Massachusetts. Resolved, That as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased the Senate do now adjourn. The resolutions were unanimously agreed to; and (at 4 o'clock and 45 minutes p. m.) the Senate adjourned until Monday, January 20, 1896, at 12 o'clock meridian. MEMORIAL ADDRESSES. Fkbruary 6, 1897.
