Timeless Collections offers a wide variety of anthologies. I've been impressed with each of the Timeless Anthologies I've read. In my experience, they are all the first printings of the short stories enclosed in that book. There are three authors in this anthology; I'm only familiar with Heather B. Moore. She has grown on me; her stories are original in content and well-written.
ONE DANCE (Heather B. Moore) -- VG
Harriet Silverman is one of Mercer's Belles and expects to take a position as a teacher in Seattle. Harriet is not interested in marriage. However, she falls into the harbor water as she goes on shore, and a fisherman saves her.
They agree they are not interested in marriage but decide to be friends. However, as they meet repeatedly, their attitudes alter. This is a lovely, low-key story.
A JOURNEY TO LOVE (Teri Harman) -- VG
Cora, a widow, has come West to find a job doing what she did in the Civil War, namely, just about everything a surgeon would do. However, her competence is worrisome to the men she meets.
Albert Cunningham, a surgeon traveling to Seattle to open a new practice, is not looking for a wife. He has been hired to assist the physician serving the ship to Seattle. However, he is intrigued by Cora because he has heard about the nurse who worked with Dr. Rand during the Civil War.
A FARAWAY LIFE (Linda Carroll-Bradd) -- VG
Sorcha Geraghty is a new teacher, hoping to improve her life by going to Seattle with the other Mercer's Belles. She is shocked when she arrives and finds out that the men expect the women who arrive to be wives, not teachers. However, Sorcha soon meets Lang Inglemar, who wants a teacher to instruct his Swedish logmen in English, so they can communicate when in Seattle. Before hiring Sorcha, the men were short-changed and often fought because they didn't understand the language.
