FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick is looking into a thirty-year-old armored car robbery after a skeleton and old bank bags turn up in a cabin in the woods. The Gamble-Helmet Heist was never solved. Four of the five gang members took the money and got away without a trace. One member was shot after killing a guard and is currently in prison. Now it looks like they've found the remains of one of the gang. Mercy and her partner, Eddie Peterson, get help from a retired FBI Agent who worked the case for years. Meanwhile, Mercy's fiancé, Police Chief Truman Daly, has been getting reports of vandalism from two residents in the community.
This series gets better and better with each book. There were several surprises that I didn't see coming. Along with the robbery investigation, we had the vandalism storylines. Two local residents have reported vandalism. Are these separate events or is the same person behind both incidents? As usual, I couldn't put the book down. My rating: 5 Stars.
