Micros in Mathematical Education (Mime): Linear Motion
Micros in Mathematical Education Linear Motion - Mime Author:A. C. Bajpai, J.A. Fairley Harrison, A.H. Whitfield, I.J. Downend The aim of the MIME Project, is to produce units, comprising programs and backing documentation on mathematics topics varying from school levels to second year engineering undergraduate standard. This particular unit is concerned with motion in a straight line. Graphical methods are used to introduce velocity and acceleration, the limiting proce... more »ss is used to demonstrate clearly their instantaneous values. The equations of motion for linear motion with constant acceleration are obtained and then utilised in two interactive examples. Finally lunar modules descend, rockets go up and parachutists fall as motion under gravity is explored. This self-paced study pack is contained on two program discs, suitable for use either by a teacher with his class or by the pupil for guided discovery. The unit consists of two program disks and two back up disks running on the BBC/B microcomputer. It is fully supported by Teacher's notes and includes comprehensive work cards for the student.« less
