I read this book in a day and a half, and laughed and cried my way through it. Keely Corrgian writes her memoir with honesty, integrity and humor. At the end I found myself wanting to know more about her and her family, she seems like the type of person you could sit and have coffee with and talk for hours. I loved the book and highly recommend it!

I absolutely loved this book. I was captivated by the back cover and the lady at the book store, told me she just read it. I found out when I went to pay for it, that it was about a womans struggle with cancer and I wasn't so sure I wanted to buy it, but I had heard how wonderful it was. I am SO glad that I bought it. It was a wonderful read and it wasn't the least bit down, like I thought it was going to be. It was well worth the money I had to pay for it. I highly reccomend this book.

Kelly Corrigan and I have many things in common. First, we are Irish American girls raised in a Catholic family. She has 2 older brothers and I have 2 older brothers. Most importantly, we are both breast cancer survivors. Her story is very similar to mine in so many ways. Kelly loves her Dad very, very much. I am also fortunate enough to still have my Dad on this earth, and I indeed love him very much!

Kelly's story is a tale of love and survival. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I read it while on vacation. It was a pick-me-up, not a bring-me-down. It's a story I will never forget!

Great book about being a daughter and a mother at the same time. Kelly writes in such a familiar voice that it's hard to put this book down!

I like Kelly's writing style, it is like talking to a good friend over a few drinks. the story is sweet/sad, but ultimately happy. i could not relate to a lot of the things she writes about, she certainly is 'daddy's little girl' which i am most def. not.. but there are other parts of the book which i completely related to. i would recommend this book to anyone.

I really enjoyed this book. I can relate to being in the middle place-- raising a family and having aging parents. The author managed to make a book about cancer fun and encouraging.

Having known several people personally that has battled cancer, I thought this book might have been written as an inspiration to help others in dealing with a terminal illness. After reading it I felt like it was a very negative book about a daughter that wanted to bash her mom too much and glorify her dad, at any cost to others, including her mom and the siblings. This book might allow others to see the difficult struggles one faces with dealing with a terminal illness and, possibly in light of those stuggles, one might feel compelled to examine the relationships around oneself. Others may find it enlightening but I was not impressed by the story.

I don't usually read many autobiographical books. Since I heard such good reviews I had to try it and I am glad I did so. This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. Thanks Kelly for being so candid and sharing your family!

Captivating from the very first page. Kelly Corrigan seamlessly blends her rich family history and stories from her childhood with tales of her adult life as she battles breat cance and raises her daughters, all the while remaining "George Corrigan's daughter." The best book I have read this year!

Two years ago my father was diagnosed with cancer and this year a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, I have been through all the things Corrigan talks about in this book. Her sense of love and humor are clear in this book. She can help you if you are the patient or the friend/family member. A great read for anyone.

Uplifting true story of a family dealing with cancer, and an amazing father-daughter relationship. So upbeat, funny, and warm it made me want to call my dad all the way through.

I loved this book. It was funny, heart-warming and immersed me in Kelly Corrigan's story of a cancer survivor, parent, and adult child of quite a character. Kelly has a knack for writing witty text that is thought provoking and captures those ordinary, everyday moments.

What a fun book to read! my book club really liked it, too.
The cancer part was difficult - but real. Not sure how she made it "uplifting" with such a dark illness involved, but she pulled it off. I have definitely recommended it to friends.
Do note that If you have a family member with cancer (especially a dad or father figure) or recently passed from cancer it probably isnt a good pick, but down the road it would be worthwhile!

I read this with my book club. It was the first book our group read and the book that we've compared everything else to. We got to hear Kelly Corrigan speak and she has such a positive attitude. This book touched me because of her attitude in the face of cancer. Also, the father/daughter relationship is amazing. A must read!

This is a very easy read. I finished it in a couple of days. I loved the book and was able to really identify with the author. Although the subject matter is heavy, the book is very funny. I found myself laughing out loud in parts. A good read.

A great book for anyone who is a mother and a daughter, especially a "daddy's girl." I laughed, I cried, I LOVED this book. Great real life writing with anecdotes that are easy to relate to.

You'll LOVE this memoir written by Kelly Corrigan. She presents many of the issues daughters face with their parents and in particular their fathers. This book is filled with true grit humor and love on all fronts. You'll relate to her and feel like she's one of your best friends. A great book to listen to. Be warned; you'll be crying and laughing while you drive.

Very well written. I loved reading about Kelly Corrigan's relationships with the members of her family, and how those ties helped her and her father with their bouts of cancer. The only item I didn't care for in the book, and thought was useless to the storyline was how she lost her virginity. Other than that, her words were poignant and many times humorous.

Father and daughter fighting cancer at the same time sparks this warm look at a happy family.

At the same time that Kelly Corrigan begins her chemotherapy for breast cancer, her father is diagnosed with his 3rd "bout" of cancer...this time bladder cancer. Through flashbacks, we come to learn about the special relationship between Kelly and her dad and at the same time experience the anguish of dealing with cancer in both. Heartwarming, witty, poignant and oftentimes funny. Well worth the read.

This was a really wonderful book to read. What excellent writing. It is a book about a family dealing with cancer in TWO of its members, but this book is not a downer. You just want to call the protaganist up when you read the last page and get to know her and her family, especially her dad, even better. Great insight into what a life dealing with cancer is all about, but also just an awesome story.

Really liked this. Kelley is very real and likable and her story of her journey through breast cancer and her history and family makes for a good read and explores good issues for the "sandwich" generations.

I am not a fan of this book. I can empathize with the author as I am also a breast cancer survivor but the book has no soul. She comes across as very egotistical and self-indulgent. I ended up not caring at all about this person. Her father who was a mega optimist really got on my nerves. According to her description of him, he is Alice in Wonderland happy. Really? There is no soul searching, no life lessons taught, just the facts and its all about her.

A little "much" in parts of the story. Still enjoyable.
