Such a beautiful book! Some of the images aren't too true to the book, but it's still wonderful to look at. If someone is going to be critical about this book, then they aren't a true Tolkien fan. I enjoyed this.
Okay, I found the images to simple, and fairly disappointing.
But you need to consider this was the vision of an artists minds eye,
who didn't have the cartoons, or any of the movies to go from this
art was composed at a time when the simple words from LOTR stories
were all that the artist had to work with.
Given the time, and contextual frame of reference I still found this
book to be disappointing. this is a large 9 x12 inch format book most
picture are 9 x12 but Split between two pages, so any scan would have a
split in it.
I was excited when I found it, but disappointed upon opening it.
