This is a very good book and it is very well written. It will make you appreciate the lives our immigrant ancestors lived and why they were so determined to leave their native lands and come to America to "make their fortune". This is Ceely's first book. Do read her second book (Bread and Dreams) which continues the story of Mina in America. They are both excellent. Hope she writes something else soon! Genny

I really liked this book. It is an easy read, but it goes very slowly. I can't wait to start the sequel, Bread and Dreams.
